Several students took the chalk as an opportunity to send messages in hopes of promoting inclusiveness, writing messages such as Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ+ Lives Matter. Other students chalked phrases such as Trump 2020, Keep America Great and All Lives Matter. A small number of the chalking on campus included explicit and demeaning language in response to messages of those with opposing political viewpoints. I really anticipated most people would take the chalk and just do some fun, artistic things with it, Davis said. People have always chalked sidewalks here during homecoming week, too, but they never went this direction with it. I didnt think it would become as big of a thing as it has. These messages could be found nearly everywhere on campus since the start of the school year in front of academic buildings, dormitories and, in some cases, on the buildings themselves. Some chalk was even found on large rocks on campus that serve as artwork for students and faculty to enjoy. Tshiyamba Ngeleka, who was the president of BSA before Davis, said she believes students are entitled to their own opinions, but some of the messages are being hijacked, turning the chalking into a war of sorts. Those people who cross out Black Lives Matter and write Trump 2020, and vice versa, are drowning out the messages people are trying to send, Ngeleka said. Theres nothing wrong with someone expressing their opinion, but that doesnt mean you have to hinder the messages others are trying to send.

Atty. Gen. 476 1923, with respect to interpretation of compensation statute. Against this background, we see no escape from the conclusion that, because Congress has retained removal authority over the Comptroller General, he may not be entrusted with executive powers. The remaining question is whether the Comptroller General has been assigned such powers in the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985. The primary responsibility of the Comptroller General under the instant Act is the preparation of a "report. " This report must contain detailed estimates of projected federal revenues and expenditures. The report must also specify the reductions, if any, necessary to reduce the deficit to the target for the appropriate fiscal year. The reductions must be set forth on a program by program basis. In preparing the report, the Comptroller General is to have "due regard" for the estimates and reductions set forth in a joint report submitted to him by the Director of CBO and the Director of OMB, the President's fiscal and budgetary adviser. However, the Act plainly contemplates that the Comptroller General will exercise his independent judgment and evaluation with respect to those estimates.

Renown therapist Resmaa Menakem has just launched a free online series empowering individuals and communities to address and heal from race based trauma. Studies continue to show that African Americans suffer more mental health problems than their White counterparts. And, much of the problems are attributed to racial microaggressions from overt racial discrimination to over racism. Yet, Black people are the least likely to seek treatment and when they do, most therapists arent trained to deal in race based trauma. Enter Menakem, MSW, LICSQ, SEP, who specializes in race based trauma work, addressing conflict, and body centered healing. The most important thing for me is that my people get a chance to understand that theyre not defective and that something happened and continues to happen to their people and to their bodies, Menakem told the MSR. And that a lot of that experience that we dont have a language for can be the result of trauma that happened in other generations. While his work centers primarily on mental health issues, Menakem defines racial trauma as a physical, rather than emotional, response. The five day course, which features five 15 minute videos, begins by defining and exploring that tenet. We cant help ourselves even begin to heal racialized trauma if we dont acknowledge that it even exists, said Menakem. It is essentially an interactive extension of his latest book, My Grandmothers Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies, which focuses on how the physical nature of trauma impacts not just the mind, but the body, as well, and how that is passed down through generations.

Speakers for the evening included Dr. John and Rebecca Jackson, Isabel Piczek and Barrie Schwortz. About 60 people attended the event at the center, which features a permanent exhibit of life size photographs and other Shroud materials. More information about the center can be found on the "Shroud Centers and Organizations" page of the website. Today's update marks another major addition of material to this website, and represents an increase in overall size of almost 2 MB's. It includes new pages, articles, photographs and more. It also has taken several weeks to accomplish this work.
